TESTIMONIES

I was raised in this church, but for much of my twenties I was not attending church. One January morning, some years ago now, I woke up with a longing that I believe that God put in my heart to come back to this congregation. Although I had been gone for over 10 years, I was welcomed as though I never left and was still a part of the family. There were new faces, but the same old spirit of love and compassion. The congregation also embraced my young stepsons and my husband. I can't describe how much the children have gotten out of being a part of a loving Christian community that cares for them, educates them and supports them. I trust everyone here with the children, and often our children go on play dates with other children in the congregation. They have also participated in the summer camp programs and other Mission Center programs for children, and every year now we go to the week long Reunion at Deer Park Camp, a place that my mother went to as a child, and I went to as a child, and where we always feel spiritually strengthened and refreshed. We hope you will visit our church and participate in the rich traditions and fine fellowship that we share. -Lynda, 36 year old law student |
I became associated with this Church through my wife who was brought up in it. When I started to attend meetings, I was an atheist, though not wishing to deny my children an opportunity to seek, so I continued on with it. Early on, I donated my time to certain construction projects around the grounds and eventually joined in on fundraising efforts. As time went on, I became more enmeshed with my fellow congregants who I have come to realize are very fine and upstanding people. I still held firm to my view on God and religion, and as time passed, shared it with some members. No one I shared with demonstrated any ill will towards me, nor was I barraged with high-pressure tactics to adopt the faith; I was given room to feel as I wished. Eventually, I was confronted with some difficult situations in every area of my life. Overwhelmed by it all, I called out for some “help” and was answered… answered by the One who I realized created me. As time went on, I developed my newfound faith and came to believe deeply in God and His plan for me. I have been well encouraged and nurtured by my fellow congregants who have become dear friends. We all know and care for each other, and want so much to share it with others. I firmly believe we are a genuine fellowship of Christ. - Mike, 35 year old construction worker |

Community of Christ is a small but giving church. As a new member I was made to feel like part of the family from the moment I walked through the door. Everyone was patient with my questions and I was never pressured to make choices. They allowed me to come into my salvation at a pace that I was comfortable. When I finally did step into the waters of Baptism I was prepared and truly understood the choice I was making to come to Christ. Community of Christ has been my peaceful sanctuary in an otherwise hectic life. - Drew, 33 year old Computer Tech |
